Frequently Asked Questions

What do I need to have with me to get a Husky One Card (UConn ID)?

A photo ID such as a drivers license, passport, or some other official picture ID. Employees will also need to bring a copy of their payroll authorization or a letter from their Department.

Where is the One Card Office located?

Second floor of the Wilbur Cross building, Storrs.

What do I do if I lose my ID?

If you lose your card, deactivate it via the Manage Your Account section of this website or call the One Card Office at (860)486-3129. If you find it, you can reactivate it on the website or in person at the One Card Office. Any meals or cash lost are not refundable, so make sure to deactivate your lost card immediately.

My ID card will not open my door (Storrs Residence Halls)?

If your ID does not work for your door you must contact Residential Life at 486-5556.

Do ID cards expire?

Your card is valid as long as you are affiliated with the University and does not need to be renewed each year. If there is a change in status (ex. from undergraduate to graduate, name change, etc.) then a new card must be issued.

What happens if my ID breaks?

Do not throw it out. Bring the broken card to the One Card Office or regional ID center to exchange it for a new one. All pieces of the broken ID are required to get a new ID free of charge.

Can my friends use my ID?

No. Your ID is yours to use only. If a person is caught using someone else’s ID, the ID may be confiscated. This is to safeguard any value that may be on the card.

Can I pick up my friend’s/child’s ID card?

No. The cardholder must be the person who picks up the ID.

What can I use my ID for?

The Husky One Card has many different functions. It is used as an identification for various functions and events, for meal plans, to take books out of the library, access to the gym, door access to your dorm, and purchases with HUSKY Bucks.

What are Husky Bucks?

HUSKY Bucks is a debit account on your ID to make purchases at various locations at the Storrs and regional campuses. Note: laundry facilities at the Storrs campus (except Mansfield Apartments) only take Husky Bucks. There are no coin machines.

For a complete listing of locations see the Husky Bucks page.

How can I add Husky Bucks?

Refer to the Deposit web page.

How do I check my balance?

Go to the Manage Your Account page.

Can I take cash out of my account?

Cash cannot be taken out of this account. Refunds are only issued upon request if the student is graduating or has separated from the University.

Are points the same as HUSKY Bucks?

Points are not the same as HUSKY Bucks. The 3 resident meal plans come with constant passes (for the dining halls only), flex passes and the top 2 have points. Flex passes are used to bring a guest in the dining hall or to take out food at the grab & go locations. They are not valid at the coffee shops. Points can be used at Dining Services locations that do not allow a meal swipe: the coffee shops, Chuck & Augie’s (after 2pm) and grab & go locations. HUSKY Bucks are extra money added to the ID for making purchases in many places on-campus besides Dining Services (Co-op, Benton Museum, Jorgensen, for doing laundry, for copying and printing, etc). See Where to use Husky Bucks for a complete list.

A purchase made at a Dining Services’ location will reduce the meal plan first until all flex passes and points have been exhausted. Then HUSKY Bucks will kick in.
